Chomsky reviews Kissinger’s Memoirs with hilarious results

Paul

I was reading today when I found this chapter from a Chomsky book, titled “Towards a New Cold War” (1982), chapter six where he reviews Kissinger’s epic 1500 page memoirs. He totally mocks Kissinger’s historical ignorance and naïveté, even of elementary historical notions, like the role of US power in the Cold War, The Marshall Plan and the Vietnam war, most of which Kissinger doesn’t seem to care much about.

In between the hilarious and savage characterisations of Kissinger’s “intellect” there are many passages where he contrasts Kissinger’s views with what actually happened, making this a valuable lesson in history of propaganda.
